Echoes of Ice

CHF 1'350

This series presents three vessels derived from the morphologies of glacial potholes, translating ephemeral ice-formed geometries into permanent aluminum objects. Using 3D scanning and computational modeling, naturally eroded cavities are captured, abstracted, and reinterpreted through digital processes before being materialized as 3D printed metal forms.

The vessels embody a dialogue between fluid erosion and precise fabrication, where irregular, water-carved interiors contrast with the controlled logic of additive manufacturing. Surface textures retain traces of their geological origin, while the metallic finish introduces a new material identity—shifting from soft, transient ice to rigid, reflective permanence.

Positioned between artifact and prototype, the work merges analog formation with digital translation. The resulting vessels preserve the memory of glacial movement while redefining it through contemporary design and 3D printing technologies.
